KLK Land launches RM3.5b industrial hub in Tanjong Malim, with BYD as anchor investor
KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 12): KLK LAND, a wholly owned subsidiary of Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd (KL:KLK), has launched KLK TechPark — a 1,500-acre integrated industrial hub in Tanjong Malim, with Chinese automotive giant BYD confirmed as the anchor investor for Phase 1.
According to a press release on Friday, the launch was officiated on the same day by Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad, alongside Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Chang Lih Kang, Perak executive councillor for industry Loh Sze Yee, and KLK executive chairman Tan Sri Lee Oi Hian.
Located near the Automotive High-Tech Valley (AHTV), KLK TechPark comprises 1,300 acres of land for industrial development, and 200 acres for residential support, to be developed in phases between 2025 and 2035.
The project is expected to generate a gross development value (GDV) of RM3.5 billion over the next decade.
Phase 1 will include BYD’s 150-acre facility, with infrastructure works scheduled for completion by end-2026.
Phase 2, targeted for launch by end-2025, will include a 200-acre vendor park, aimed at automotive and manufacturing players.
KLK TechPark will offer build-to-suit solutions, industrial plots and ready-built factories, supported by key infrastructure and direct access to the North-South Expressway, minutes from Tanjong Malim town and the Behrang toll.
Perak’s state government said that the project will contribute to gross domestic product (GDP) growth, create thousands of jobs, and support the development of a high-tech supply-chain ecosystem.
“For Perak, KLK TechPark supports AHTV’s aspiration to transform Tanjong Malim into a global hub for automotive and advanced technology, anchored on new energy vehicles, and backed by a complete ecosystem of manufacturing, research & development (R&D), supply chains and talent,” said Saarani.
“KLK TechPark, alongside BYD’s investment, marks an early step in this vision, and reflects growing international confidence in Tanjong Malim’s potential,” he added.
Lee said the project aligns with the state’s industrial ambitions and long-term development goals.
“KLK TechPark is envisioned as a platform to support Perak’s economic and industrial aspirations,” he said.
“With the state government’s facilitation and BYD’s role as anchor investor, we believe it will help create opportunities for businesses and communities, while building an ecosystem that is sustainable and competitive in the long term,” he added.
