KUALA LUMPUR: Public Bank Bhd has reaffirmed its long-standing dedication to community service and philanthropy, contributing nearly RM20 million towards key healthcare programs and community empowerment initiatives.
The donation coincided with the third memorial anniversary of the bank's late founder and chairman emeritus, Tan Sri Dr Teh Hong Piow.
The bank's managing director and chief executive officer Tan Sri Dr Tay Ah Lek paid tribute to Teh's visionary stewardship and lasting impact on the financial sector and society at large.
"As we remember him today, we also reflect on the responsibility he entrusted to us, to continue giving back, to stand with those in need, and to serve with compassion beyond our own walls," he said.
Tay added that the bank has continued Teh's legacy of care through several initiatives in the healthcare sector.
"This includes support for institutions that strengthen healthcare delivery and emergency response, as well as charities that protect vulnerable groups and empower families in distress," he said.
Honouring her father's philanthropic legacy, Teh Li Shian Diona reaffirmed the family's commitment to community well-being by contributing close to RM20 million to various beneficiaries.
These include Hospis Malaysia, the Malaysian Red Crescent, Pertubuhan Amal Uncle Kentang Malaysia, Hospital Queen Elizabeth II in Sabah and the Academies Simulation Education Training Site.
"Carrying forward his legacy is not just an honour; it is a responsibility I hold close to my heart. Every initiative we support, every act of kindness we enable, is a continuation of his dream: a nation where compassion, hope, and opportunity reach everyone. His spirit lives on in each life we can uplift," she said.
The memorial event commemorated Teh's remarkable life and underscored the continued commitment of Public Bank to uphold his values of innovation, philanthropy and excellence, while contributing towards building a more compassionate and resilient Malaysia.
