KUALA LUMPUR: Sand Nisko Capital Bhd's (SNC) wholly-owned subsidiary Len Cheong Industries Sdn Bhd (LCI) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Fabulous Sunview Sdn Bhd (FSSB) to collaborate and integrate a large scale solar (LSS) farm on SNC's upcoming 162-acre project in Melaka.

According to filing with Bursa Malaysia today, the collaboration between the two companies will include the planning and submitting LSS tender application of up to 100MWac to Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA).

SNC managing director Emily Sow Mei Chet said this MoU is preparing for the LSS component that the company is eyeing to integrate into its upcoming aquaponics solar farm project.

"We plan to kick off our collaboration with FSSB by installing a solar photovoltaic (PV) system on existing factory buildings in Melaka and Seremban for a capacity of up to 4,400 kWp," she said in a statement today.

Started operations in 2013, FSSB is a leading solar power system provider and solar installation company.

The company provide turnkey solutions from engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning (EPCC), subcontracting, and other solar-related services for solar power systems in Malaysia.

Over the last eight years, FSSB has completed a total portfolio of more than 200 MWdc in solar power generation, with a further 50MWdc under construction.

Malaysia Debt Venture Bhd also appoints FSSB as an auditor for solar plants.

LCI's subsidiary, Len Cheong Resources Sdn Bhd (LCR), had on 1 December 2021, signed

a joint venture agreement (JVA) with Mutiara Mahajuta Sdn Bhd (MMSB) for two phases of developing a piece of approximately 162 acres of land in Alor Gajah, Melaka.

The first phase entails establishing a sustainable agro-tourism project, namely a working aquaponics solar farm.

The agro-tourism project consists of three components which include an aquaponics farm with aquaculture with hydroponics and the electricity generated from the LSS farm with a capacity between 50MWac to 100MWac.

"We look forward to working with FSSB, who has the track records and expertise in executing LSS solar projects," Emily said.

"By installing the proposed 4,400 kWp solar PV systems on existing factory buildings, including buildings rented out with comprehensive services, we estimate to achieve annual savings of up to RM2.79 million electricity consumption, thus boosting our bottom line," Emily added.
